Origins and Distribution (short version)

from electroacoustic compositions by richard scott

/

about

Origins and Distribution is a meditation on the emerging concept of post-acousmatic. The piece is almost entirely realised on Hordijk, Serge and Eurorack analogue modular synthesizers plus some interludes from a short wave radio and a Thai pi-saw reed flute (played by Clive Bell). David Ross also played a synthesizer part.

The full version is a triptych at 16’ 15" and includes a rhythmic section at the end. As this is quite long for the context I include a shorter version at 10' 11" which excludes the rhythmic section. It is a valid version of the piece, but a bit less fun.

The piece employs simple pitch structures. These tie the piece together creating continuity, repetition and variation. Their development is mostly via rhythmic in nature.
